Our Facility


Saint Bernard's school building opened in 1964. Under the care of custodian, Archie Quinones, a clean, safe learning environment is provided for our students. Classrooms are painted on a revolving schedule. Ceiling fans have been installed in all rooms so that learning in the fall and spring is done in comfort. Student desks were replaced in the summer of 2001 and teacher desks were replaced in December 2002. A major renovation of our kitchen took place in the summer of 2003. Computers and projection systems have been installed in classrooms.

Computer Lab - our lab is equipped with 20 Pentium 4 computers with the Windows XP operating system and 4 color inkjet printers. A vast library of educational software is available. Seventeen digital cameras are also available. There are TV/VCR carts on each floor of the building.

Library - our library is open every day. The library was renovated, rearranged, and upgraded during the summer of 2003. We have close to 4,000 books and our collection is added to on a yearly basis. Each class is scheduled for a weekly library period. The library is equipped with 6 Dell Pentium 4 computers with the Windows XP operating system and a color inkjet printer.

Science Lab - our lab was fully renovated and refurbished during the summer of 2003. In addition to basic supplies and materials we have electronic microscopes available to our students. A computer with Internet access and science programs installed are available to aid in research. A refrigerator for storage of supplies, a sink to provide a water source, and a microwave were installed to make the lab more functional.

Auditorium/Gymnasium - this large multipurpose area does triple duty. It serves as a place for assemblies, physical education classes, and as a lunchroom. It can be partitioned to make the use of space as advantageous as possible. The area meets all health and safety standards demanded by New York State. In the summer of 2007, air conditioning was installed. Curtains, lighting, and a new sound system have been added to our recently rebuilt extended stage.
